Find Temporary Safe Area Housing ASAP - Minimum 2 years lease (they will move quickly) - short term hotels and rental agnecies offer considerable discounts to victims)
Save all receipts - Hotel, gas, food grocery, Hotel, clothing, (Need all the receipts for your reimbursment)
Immediately file claim with Homeowners or renters insurance company - file fire insurance claim if on policy
Review Possibility of Business Interruption Claims - Small business owners and freelancers
File claim with auto insurance - some policies have rental car for 30 days
Contact rental car companies asap - they will move quickly
File claim with FEMA - file if you have other insurance or not - CLICK LINK
Set a mailing address - if you have not secured long term housing, set a PO Box quickly
Contact and design / build professional asap - there services will also become overwhelmed
Debris removal Process and documents:
Send in applications as soon as possible. This removal may be done by FEMA the Army Corp of Engineers or Private Companies
Application requesting debris removal
Certificate that your request for removal has been received.
Application of permission to access the property and remove debris - (ROE) Right-of-Entry
Certificate that debris has been removed
Certificate that no hazardous material remains on your property
